NeuroJSON.io

NeuroJSON.io is the main data sharing portal of the NeuroJSON project. It is specifically designed to address one of the growing challenges of scientific data sharing -- scalability.

NeuroJSON.io is built upon many modern technologies to facilitate the findability, reusability and scalability of imaging data sharing. Specifically, it is comprised of

• Frontend -- intuitive web-based data portal, with in-browser 2D/3D/4D/mesh data visualization and HTML5 based interactive webpage designs
• Backend -- a highly scalable NoSQL database (Apache CouchDB) for storing, indexing and serving complex datasets in both web-based data portal and via REST-APIs
• Efficient metadata search engine -- metadata-centered data sharing is one of the guiding principles of NeuroJSON; NeuroJSON toolchain offers metadata extraction and aggregation from large datasets, so they can be discovered and reused
• JSON based data exchange -- JSON is the native data exchange format for modern NoSQL databases, is universally supported in nearly all programming environments; it's human-readability ensures the long-lasting reusability of NeuroJSON encoded datasets
