NeuroJSON Documentation

The NeuroJSON project offers a simple, easy-to-use and future-proof platform for searching, sharing and reusing complex neuroimaging datasets. The NeuroJSON project is funded by the NIH award U24-NS124027.

NeuroJSON data sharing platform is enabled by a number of key components:

  • NeuroJSON.io - a highly scalable, fast, and comprehensive "yellow-book" of public neuroimaging datasets
  • JSON/binary JSON based human-understandable and universally parsable data exchange format
  • NeuroJSON software toolchain offers simple, portable, low-maintenance toolboxes to read/write NeuroJSON datasets in all environments
  • Comprehensive metadata pipeline ensures findability and searchability of complex datasets without the burden of downloading large files
  • NeuroJSON REST-API offers a URL-based universal data query and access in MATLAB/Python/Web applications

This wiki is designed to guide users and developers of all levels to understand how to use the websites, resources, software tools and APIs to benefit from this unique platform.

If you are new to the NeuroJSON project, please visit the Starter Kit. If you are interested in searching over over 1500 (and growing) datasets, please visit Search NeuroJSON tutorial. If you are an advanced user and wants to dynamically query, download and process tens of thousands of sMRI/fMRI/EEG/iEEG/fNIRS raw data files, you should checkout our REST-API page. If you are a developer and want to support NeuroJSON's JSON-based data exchange formats, please check out our Format Parsers.
